Life transitions are periods of life which require some sort of change or adjustment in lifestyle. They can also be important events that cause you to evaluate your life. Some life transitions may run smoothly but often people struggle to adjust to changes, finding these periods stressful and even distressing. It is common for people to have difficulty adjusting to middle age and many people around this age are said to be having a ‘mid-life crisis’.
Life transitions often cause people to think about what they want out of life, what they have achieved and what they value – the process can bring up a lot of emotions and be difficult to move forward from.
Dr. Melissa Richman’s services for transition issues are offered to clients who are having difficulties transitioning in many ways. Some of the most common concerns include transitions associated with the following: starting or losing a job, starting or ending a relationship, moving to a college campus, health-related changes, resiliency when studying or traveling abroad, grief or loss, often associated with the loss of a loved one, retirement, and aging.
